Market Development Assistance (MDA):

The Department of Commerce, India through its initiative of Market Development Assistance (MDA) provides various measures to stimulate and diversify India’s export trade. Under this scheme, assistance is provided to exporters for export promotion activities abroad. Assistance is provided to Export Promotion Councils to undertake export promotional activities for their commodities. Assistance is approved by nodal organizations and trade bodies for undertaking exclusive nonrecurring innovative export promotion efforts by their members. The scheme helps in carrying out activities connected to the market promotion efforts abroad and to assist Focus export promotion programmes in specific regions like Focus Africa, Focus LAC, Focus CIS and Focus ASEAN programmes.

Market Access Initiative (MAI)

In the 10th five year plan (2002 – 2007) a scheme, MAI or Market Access Initiative was introduced. The scheme was envisaged to act as a catalyst to promote India’s exports on a sustained basis. The scheme is formulated on focus product-focus country approach to evolve specific strategy for specific market and specific product through market studies/survey. Assistance would be provided to Export Promotion Organizations/Trade Promotion Organizations /Exporters etc.
